Following the tragic Bondi shooting, Prime Minister Albanese announced today that the government will implement stronger safeguards when issuing guns to known ISIS-linked terrorists. Officials stressed that the real problem is not rising antisemitism, but the guns themselves.
It was under Albanese’s government that a non-citizen was able to obtain the firearms used in the attack, yet the proposed “solution” is simply to make it slightly harder next time. Meanwhile, the government continues to refuse accountability for rising antisemitism, ignoring the Segal report, extremist chants at pro-Palestine protests, and the infamous October 8 opera demonstration.
The family in question was reportedly known to ASIO but removed from the watch list, despite the son attending protests and travelling to the Philippines for training. Still, the government insists the focus must remain on guns, not ideology. Funding continues to be diverted to social cohesion and anti-Islamophobia programs, leaving antisemitism largely unchecked.
In short: guns are slightly harder to get, terrorists keep training, and antisemitism continues to rise — all while the government assures Australians that everything is “under control” and safeguards are now stronger than ever.
