Mufti Day has officially been rebranded ‘Dress As A Mufti’ Day after months of confusion over what “mufti” actually means. “School Students for Palestine” are urging everyone to wear a keffiyeh — or, if that’s too subtle, dress as their favourite mufti. Posters proudly announced it would be on the 20th of “Febuary,” prompting teachers to quietly wonder if English spelling is still mandatory.
Participation is optional, though female students reportedly have the option to skip the whole day — or, as some parents read it, the rest of school forever. One Western Sydney school is embracing the chaos, letting students combine keffiyehs, casualwear, and bureaucratic confusion, while also announcing it will replace the school anthem with a “River to the Sea” chant.
