Locals report a nervous graffiti cleaner taking his time before blasting off a giant “Glory to Hamas” mural in Fitzroy. The man, who described himself as “both gay and Jewish,” said the job felt “a bit like cleaning swastikas off a synagogue with a rainbow mop.”
Most nearby residents reportedly showed strong solidarity with the mural before realising that Hamas probably wouldn’t be huge fans of Fitzroy’s usual Saturday night crowd either. One onlooker admitted, “yeah, when you think about it, the whole suburb might not exactly pass their vibe check.”
Council confirmed the graffiti will be removed “once everyone finishes arguing about whether it’s cultural expression or just plain awkward.”
