Sydney, Australia –NSW Police managed to disperse protestors outside the Indo Pacific International Maritime Exposition by assuring them that the weapons they were protesting wouldn’t go to Israel—but exclusively to Hamas.
“We figured it was the easiest way to end it,” said Officer Terry Ward. “We just told them the arms were going to Hamas. They started packing up immediately.”
The protestors, initially furious over the expo’s ties to Israel, paused and reconsidered. “If Hamas is getting them, I guess that’s… less bad?” said Maria Jennings, 29, one of the protest leaders of the Palestinian Action Group.
Within a few hours, the majority of the demonstrators had gone back to their Newtown share houses, some retreating to nearby cat friendly cafes to “discuss next steps.”
