Gold Coast — Local weekend warrior Darren McGrath says his attempt to temporarily escape reality with a traditional combination of beers n bags has ended with him spending 14 consecutive hours watching clips of Sex Discrimination Commissioner Anna Cody appearing before Senate Estimates.
Friends say Darren began the weekend with noble intentions.
“He just wanted to have a few drinks, switch his brain off and maybe watch some sport,” said mate Steve. “Next thing we know he’s explaining anti-discrimination legislation at 3am.”
Darren described the experience as unlike anything he’d encountered before.
“Not since I did ayahuasca in Peru have I had an out-of-body experience like this,” he explained while opening a seventh browser tab containing parliamentary footage.
