COPACABANA — A drive through the Prime Minister’s new hometown has reportedly left his wife revisiting his famous “just friends” explanation regarding former Qantas boss Alan Joyce.

Locals have allegedly begun adding the word “lies” beneath Copacabana’s 50km/h signs, a reference to Albanese’s repeated “for the 50th time” assurances that negative gearing and capital gains tax settings would never change.

Sources say the constant reminders about being married to a man accused of saying one thing and doing another have caused fresh reflection.

“At the time I asked about Alan, he just said, ‘We’re just friends,'” she reportedly recalled. “‘Very good friends.’ Then he said he was late for a meeting in the chairmen’s lounge and rushed out the door.”
