Canberra – Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has today honoured his famous promise to do “no deals with the Greens” by announcing a deal with the Greens.

Labor clarified this was not technically a “deal”, but rather a “Senate pathway”, “legislative arrangement”, or “thing that becomes a deal only when someone else does it.”

“When the Prime Minister said no deals with the Greens, he clearly meant no deals with the Greens unless we needed a deal with the Greens,” a Labor spokesperson explained.

Albanese denied breaking his promise, insisting his position had simply evolved into something more convenient after the election.

The Greens celebrated the agreement, while Labor celebrated the media not asking too many follow-up questions.

At press time, the PM confirmed there were still absolutely no deals with the Greens, apart from the Greens deal, which is different because he said so.
