SYDNEY — The ABC has defended its decision to appoint Grace Tame as host of its new autism podcast after listeners noticed she appears to have no interest in trains whatsoever, except for Auschwitz trains. ABC insiders say Tame was the obvious choice after scoring highly across every category on the broadcaster’s Diversity Excellence Matrix, including woman, activist, professional headline-generator, and “capable of turning any conversation into an argument about Israel before the second ad break.” Rumours that actual autistic women missed out on the role were dismissed. “Podcasts involve talking,” an ABC spokesperson explained. “That narrowed the field considerably.” Concerns escalated when Episode 3 allegedly became a detailed discussion of Auschwitz rail logistics, with Tame reportedly describing the trains as “heaps cool” before wondering whether the network could have fit more people and whether a modern version could be extended to Bondi.
