Karl Stefanovic has denied claims his podcast has taken a dangerous right-wing turn, pointing out he previously interviewed Australia’s most beloved communist Muslim leader, Anthony Albanese.

The clarification comes after mainstream media outlets began circling Karl for interviewing Tommy Robinson, a man whose greatest crime appears to be exposing stories public broadcasters would rather ignore until they can repackage them as their own journalism six months later.

ABC executives were reportedly horrified, saying there is no place in Australian media for controversial interviews unless they are taxpayer-funded, morally approved, and followed by a panel of six people nodding in agreement.

Left-wing outlets including the Poopshoota Advocate portrayed the Tommy Robinson interview as though Karl had sat down with Martin Bryant, rather than a controversial British activist accused of the unforgivable offence of criticising the media.

Karl reportedly defended himself by reminding Nine bosses he had interviewed Albo months earlier.

“That should buy me at least three years of ABC-approved moral credit,” he said.
