The Albanese Government is going all-in on AI, promising massive data-centre investment to fix Australia’s productivity problem.
Data centres need enormous amounts of power and water, so Labor plans to put them in the desert and build more Chinese wind and solar farms to keep them running.
Communities can look forward to more transmission lines and wind farms, while much of the technology continues to be imported.
Meanwhile, Australia already has vast reserves of minerals, energy and other commodities that could be used to grow the economy, but apparently server racks are the future.
Albanese recently warned the UN about the dangers of AI following an incident involving a government Medicare statistics portal. Fortunately, there was no evidence personal Medicare information was accessed.
Still, the incident has provided another reason for more internet regulation
With multicultural grants flowing generously to Labor electorates and cyber security apparently further down the priority list, Australians can at least rest assured that if AI destroys the country, Labor is investing heavily to help it do so faster.
